Thank you for sharing this insightful piece. This is what everyone is talking about, and yet too little thinking is going on. Everyone is in such a hurry to reach some kind of results, but you’re so right about how most of it will be junk. Then we’ll be reading a ton of articles about how agents don’t work in the real world, and it’s all just hype. Not true, but it’s the thinking (by real human beings ) that’s going to make the difference. I’m already considering how I can put your skills into practice.

You know, I’ve been working on how to get more continuity and context in my workflows. As I was defining and refining what I wanted as context, I thought I was actually creating a full personality and that was maybe pushing it.

But so so fun.

Thank you for putting all this together and sharing!

This is fascinating, it reminds me of myself trying to find the best way to guide and help my kids achieve their goals 😄

You are building a brain! 🧠

Thanks for your comment.

In my opinion, agents are a new classification of software - they require a different way of thinking about how to build them. I've been working with this technology for two years, and when I spoke to my friend about this, I realised I was wrong to assume he was aware of the nuances of how all this works. Maybe it's time I write a book!?

If I were starting university now? I'd be all in for studying cognitive psychology, learning theory, classical logic, and... wait for it.....

Cultural anthropology. Yes ... Learning how to get out of your own way and focus not just on what I mean and think ... but what do they think they are doing! Looks to me like designing an agent has .... what should I call it ... a feature... working with LLMs comes with a similar need ... What did the LLM hear me say!
